NE 12 & Under Championship
Greenwood Memorial Swim Team sent 12 swimmers to the New England 12 and Under Championships that were hosted at Attleboro High School on February 21-24, 2008. Greenwood had a strong presence with most of our swimmers taking the coveted top spots and the team taking 5th place overall. We had two 11-12 year old swimmers who won high point in their age group. Adrien Hosking took 2nd place and Lauren Punger tied for 3rd place. In addition, Adrien Hosking had two 1st place finishes, one in the 400 IM and the other was an impressive swim in the 1650 Freestyle where he almost broke the NE record with a time of 17:39.31. Lauren Punger took four 2nd places which included the 500 Freestyle, 200 Fly, 100 IM and 200 IM. Some of the other standout swimmers included Brandon Jinn (500 freestyle) and Ryan Harty (200 yard backstroke) both took home a fourth place bid. Newly crowned Elite swimmers Kaitln Harty (100 backstroke) and Kamryn Stecyk (100 yard IM) grabbed the spots of 8th and 16th respectfully. Other swimmers who represented Greenwood were Katie Burns of Winchendon, John Harrington of Sterling, Emily Parillo and Sarah Robertson both of Phillipston, and Nikolai Syssoev of Townsend.
